When I visited Spain, I wasn’t prepared for the burst of colour(s) that would hit from the minute I walked out of the airport. From the beautifully painted mural at the Barcelona airport. Barcelona was a very interesting city. It was totally different from our prior stop, Rome. Barcelona was more like a modern city with a fascinating architecture. It was nothing like any other cities I had seen before.
To date, Barcelona is my most favorite city I have visited along our journey. It’s a coastal city with a very laid back vibe. I still cannot get over the fact that most people start eating lunch around 3pm and have dinner close to 9:30pm. Given that Chris and I lag everywhere we go, we were pleasantly surprised that we were never rushed nor late to anything… in fact, at 1pm we were early to lunch, beating the rush!
Pickpockets in Barcelona are, on the other hand, annoyingly common. I am surprised how often people ask me if I feel safe here, as they have heard it’s a dangerous place! It is very rare that belongings are taken by force or with any threat of force; but pickpocketing is a problem.
