You’re packing your bags and you’re getting ready to go on vacation. The thing is, you want to work out while traveling, and you’re wondering whether that’s even possible. Fortunately, it is, but it’s not as easy or straightforward as you would’ve liked.
So, how can you stay in shape and on track while you’re on the road? Let’s take a look at that.
Prioritize working out
You might be on vacation, but ten or twenty days without working out will get you a beer belly. If you’re on a business trip, deciding when you’ll exercise is easy, as you just need to fit it into your daily schedule. But when you’re trying to relax, squeezing in those workout sessions can prove to be a challenging task.
Most importantly, if you’re not traveling alone, tell your friends and family that you intend to work out during your vacation. That way they won’t be angry with you if you decide to hit the gym while they’re drinking or swimming.
The best possible option is, nevertheless, to get up early and work out while everybody else is still asleep.
Instead of looking at those small whiskeys and vodkas in the mini bar, throw them all out and fill the bar with food. Well, not just any food, but healthy food. Take a trip to the grocery store before you even get to the hotel and buy fresh fruit, yoghurt, vegetables (such as baby carrots), and other healthy food you usually eat.
By doing this you’ll considerably minimize the damage of vacation snacking, but you’ll always have something to eat, even when the hotel’s kitchen is closed.
Look up fitness classes in the area you’re visiting
If you know that you won’t be able to motivate yourself to exercise on your vacation, you should look up what fitness classes are available in the area and pay them in advance! That way you’ll surely be motivated, if you don’t like wasting your money that is.
If you don’t want to get too tired while vacationing, yoga classes might be the perfect choice for you. But don’t be afraid to sign up for a couple of fitness classes either. Mix it up and see what the town you’re in has to offer when it comes to exercise. Who knows? You might even learn a thing or two!
You don’t have to spend money
If you don’t want to sign up for fitness classes, you don’t have to. Just make sure to pack everything you need beforehand and work out in your hotel room. That’s right, take a jump rope, a resistance band, and your comfy bodybuilding clothes, and you are ready to work out anywhere, including your hotel room. These items take up less room than two towels, so don’t be afraid to throw the towels out. After all, your hotel will provide you with clean towels every day.
Drink more water
As you probably already know, drinking water is essential for your health. Try to drink more water than you’re used to drinking when you’re not on vacation. Exercising and spending time in the sun dehydrates you, so having a water bottle with you at all times is recommended.
If you want to stay hydrated and enhance your recovery process after a workout, then you might want to consider drinking coconut water. It’s naturally cholesterol free; it has more potassium than four bananas, and it is super hydrating.
The most important thing to do on your vacation is to relax and have fun, so don’t worry about sticking 100% to your fitness plan. If you can exercise for at least half an hour a day and eat healthy meals, you’ll return home in the same condition you’ve left. So go out there and enjoy your vacation!Published in
